Among the rarest types of antique Heriz are those with calligraphic cartouches of nastaliq poetry running round them. This is one of a pair that I bought a few years apart, each on a different continent! I love it when the Universe throws me such a happy coincidence.
They were made in the same workshop by the same hand, sharing the same medallion and Mahi patterning (unusual for Heriz) as well as the poetry and the 'turtle' border. Both are woven on woolen warps, a sign of significant age.

You can't only be a customer of Hadi Maktabi. While his main purpose is rug dealing, he starts with story telling and ends with history selling. That's what I call high-end art curating and closing it all with an entertaining friendship. George El Hani, CEO Levica, Lebanon 🇱🇧
