Silk base Isfahan rugs, among all Persian carpets, were the mark of taste of prestige as of the 1930s onwards--including pure silk pieces. They were on a higher par than the Tabriz, Kashan and Kerman rugs of the day and have retained this aura to the present. This carpet shares the quintessential style of these old school Isfahans with its central medallion floating on a beige field surrounded by a red border. It has come to be timeless and universal. A fantastic example of type.
