This is a museum quality work of Islamic art.
It is a 300 year old prayer rug from the weaving town of Kula in western Anatolia. The color palette is predominately earthy with a subtle peachy red and an eye catching Islamic green with symbolic religious resonances.
The prayer design is based around the ๐ข๐๐๐ง๐๐ prayer niche which is mirrored within the field with a wide band (containing scrolling arabesques) that curls back inwards at the base of the field, a so-called "re-entrant" movement that recalls the "Bellini" or "keyhole" prayer rugs of the 15th century.
A bold calligraphic band runs across the top of the ๐ข๐๐๐ง๐๐ arch. It presents a beautifully written rhyming couplet of Arabic poetry signifying a direct call to prayer:
ุนุฌููุง ุจุงูุตูุงุฉ ูุจู ุงูููุช
ู ุนุฌููุง ุจุงูุชูุจุฉ ูุจู ุงูู
ูุช

Absolutely engrossing!
I must say this one of the most enriching carpet purchase experiences I ever had. This was not a mere transaction but more an experience about art and history. Dr Maktabi's experience and knowledge in this space is second to none. Highly recommended! R.A., Doha, Qatar
