Number 1628
Type Caucasian
Material Wool
Style Medallion
Origin Bakhshayesh
Size 593 x 342
Age 1850
An archaic and very early Bakhshayesh of large size, it is quite easy on the eye with its soft earthy coloration and ivory tones. The woolen foundation and Caucasian style motifs posit the early dating, prior to the permanent closure of the Russo-Persian border in 1881, as well as the odd size (halfway between the ancient Kelleh format of 6 x 2 and the Ziegler-esque 6 x 4).
βI practically furnished my entire home with carpets from Hadi. The process was not only a joy but it was also a learning experience for me. Hadi was super helpful in identifying the right pieces for my home that would both work with my taste, budget, sizes required and that would be a good investment for my family. Hadiβs collection is second to none, and his knowledge and service is truly the blessing on top.β Amr Banaja, Public Investment Fund, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia πΈπ¦
I must say this one of the most enriching carpet purchase experiences I ever had. This was not a mere transaction but more an experience about art and history. Dr Maktabi's experience and knowledge in this space is second to none. Highly recommended! R.A., Doha, Qatar
Hadi Maktabi and his staff provide comprehensive and thoughtful services to collectors and textile buyers worldwide. His knowledge of antique oriental rugs and textiles, including many fine offerings from the Levant, is unsurpassed. We have been loyal customers for over five years and have visited his Beirut premises. He has worked with us upon several occasions to select the exact Ottoman and Levantine pieces we wanted for our collection. You can be sure of quality and honesty when dealing with Hadi.
