An attractive and frankly more colorful variant of the royal Millefleurs style popular on court woven Tehran carpets in the 19th century. The cypress tree at the center of the composition is larger and more eye-catching than usual. I quite love the flower bouquets in the vases alongside it. All around, the field is filled with further flowery delights and beautiful scenery. The mehrab niche has a rather unique shape to it. Its spandrels and the base of the design are quite geometric in a pointillist way, presenting us with a happy marriage of the abstract with the floral.
Mint condition, full pile, all original.
You can't only be a customer of Hadi Maktabi. While his main purpose is rug dealing, he starts with story telling and ends with history selling. That's what I call high-end art curating and closing it all with an entertaining friendship. George El Hani, CEO Levica, Lebanon π±π§
