This is a sweet small example of the legendary Millefleurs group of Tehran carpets woven in the Qajar period with the finest materials and richest patterns. It approaches Zaronim size and presents an incredible dense field with a flowering vase and a cornucopia of floral delights all rising up to the apex of the mihrab niche. The unusual proportions suggest this was a commissioned piece, as do the uncommonly wide range of colors. The greens stand out as does the cream main border. The knot count is significantly high for an antique wool rug. A superb collector's item.
